Just an Update on Projects with Us!

Not too much has been happening around our house this week, but I just wanted to do a new post! So, this post is dedicated to tomato plants and a new cabinet that Micah made!!

We have been tremendously blessed this year with our crops! This year we added peppers to the crop...we have purple, red and yellow (although our red and yellow peppers haven't turned quite yet)! We are really enjoying gardening this year! Our tomato plants have really been fruitful so far ~ we got 4 from our good friends, the Morses, and then we have at least 5 more that have sprouted up on their own! We can't believe it, seriously it seems like every time we go out to water we find another one has sprung up! So, if you are in need of any tomatoes this summer (particularly cherry tomatoes ~ mostly the ones that are orange) just let us know!

We have one other new project that has recently been finished too! As you know, we got a dishwasher about a month and a half ago and had to take out 2 of our cabinets. When we put the dishwasher in, there was about a one foot of space leftover ~ so Micah decided to give his handy- work a try. We were both very impressed with the outcome. He cut one large cupboard apart and pieced it back together to make it narrower, and then he cut apart a drawer and a door to match! What a Handy Husband I have:) And the door to the cabinet would not have been possible if Micah's brother, Nathan, hadn't had a table saw we could use! Oh and Dooders also let us use his skill saw to make the other cuts! The end result a very nice and very useful new 1 foot wide cabinet!

The NEW cabinet! Looks like it has always been there, huh?

A Cherry Tomato Plant that Simply Sprouted up on it's own! It has tons of tomatoes and we have already picked a few!
Just for Amusement ~ Our GIGANTIC Orange Cherry Tomato plant that we got from the Morses. It appears to be attacking the rest of the garden!!!
If you Zoom In on this one, you will be able to see some of our newest tomato plants sprouting up among the marigolds!

Let's Go to the Hop!

Last night, Saturday July 26th, was our 1st Ever Tri-Ward Sock Hop!! And the band, which will from this point forth be known as, Rivanna Salad of the Eternal Sky, was WONDERFUL! They all came together so well as a band and impressed the audience!! It was definitely a night to remember! And my dear sweet Micah was the keyboard player and what a GREAT keyboard player he was! Below you can see a little clip of him playing the first verse of Desperado, an old Eagles Favorite from the 70's!

It was definitely a night of food, fun, visiting and LOTS of Dancing! The band played 3 sets ~ 50's, 60's and 70's. There was a DJ in between (so the band could get a breather) and we got to play fun games (Micah really enjoyed the Limbo ~ the pictures really say it all!!) and I was a big fan of the Chicken Dance, but for some reason I couldn't get Micah to join me for that one:) And as always at any good church dance we enjoyed The Electric Slide! We both got to dance that one together which was great fun!

I did the best I could at being a groupie last night, but I think the best part for me was when my handsome keyboard player got to take a break and sneak in a slow song with me! That was definitely one of my highlights of the evening. The other highlight for me was watching Micah up on the stage playing the first verse of Desperado along with only one of the singers! He was so amazing! I am still his number one fan, and it makes my heart skip a beat when I think about how happy he was up on that stage (and how handsome too, of course).

Below are some pictures from our night of fun! If you were able to make it, I am sure you can reminisce in the fun times, if you weren't able to make it then you will know to put the next dance or Sock Hop on your calendar early, so you won't miss it! Either way, enjoy the video clip and the photos!

Another FUN Saturday in NOVA!

This past weekend was another Great one spent with our family in Northern Virginia! It was the first time we have attempted to go up and come back in the same day! And what an adventure it was ~ it started at about 6:25am when our alarm went off. We got ourselves ready and were off and headed for the Washington D.C. temple at 8am! Luckily we made it for the 10:30 session. We always really enjoy being in the temple. There is such a peaceful and beautiful spirit that can always be felt there. I am grateful to be able to go to the temple with Micah by my side. Each time we go it always draws us closer to each other and closer to our Heavenly Father and that is what attending the temple is all about.
After the temple we headed for Nathan and Sarah's house to watch our nieces and nephew so that they could head to the temple for a mid day date! We always had fun with the kiddos! And one of the funnest parts is that they all LOVE to have their pictures taken, which makes it easier to take ALOT! And what beautiful little faces they all have ~ we love them so much, and are grateful to Nathan and Sarah for sharing their children with us!
As you can tell by the photos, we had a fun filled day! We played, we napped, we ate, we made birthday cards and of course.....we took pictures!!!!
Later in the evening we went over to Mummis' house to have a birthday celebration for Rachel (Micah's sister who is getting ready to move to California in just a few weeks!)~ We didn't get many pictures at the birthday dinner, but we did get a family photo! (Sadly, we were missing Jacob ~who was photographing a wedding, and Rachel and Mummis who weren't feeling inclined), but we are having another family get together/party soon ~ so I am sure we will get the chance again!
We always look forward to these opportunities to get together as a family and are looking forward to January when we can add one more kiddo to the bunch!!! Enjoy the photos!!!
Uncle Micah and Lydia enjoying some one on one time at the swing!!
I love my nieces! And they LOVE the camera (well, for the most part!)

Re-Living a Memory

What's in Your Memory?
This is a fun post that is circulating on our friends' blogs.

1. As a comment on my blog, leave one memory that you and I had together. It doesn't matter if you knew me a little or a lot, anything you remember!

2. Next, re-post these instructions on your blog and see how many people leave a memory about you. It's actually pretty funny to see the responses. If you leave a memory about me, I'll assume you're playing the game and I'll come to your blog and leave one about you. If you don't want to play on your blog, or if you don't have a blog, leave an email address and I will send it there.

The Heartbeat!

Today, July 15th 2008, was a very special day for Micah and I. We had our 3rd doctor's appointment. And today, we were able to hear our baby's little (but strong) heartbeat for the very first time! It was such an exciting, but at the same time unreal, moment! The tears definitely surfaced for this mother-to-be, I fought them back and didn't need any tissues! Can you believe that? And Micah, he was too excited for tissues. He was the "technical dad-to-be" as he was trying to follow the little doppler with not one but two digital recorders!! We had to make sure they worked, ya know? We got a really good recording of it, but unfortunately couldn't figure out how to upload it to our blog right now, but if anyone is interested in hearing it, just let us know!
When we got home we decided to take some pictures to celebrate this momentous day, and we got to take my 14 week photos too! We have been taking pregnancy pictures every 4 weeks (starting at week 6) and I am finally starting to look pregnant!!! This is a very exciting time for us and we are excited and happy to get to document it and share it with our dear family and friends!

~14 weeks and counting~ Getting ready to go do some yard work!

A post from Micah:
As Holly said, we had a special memory-making experience this morning. Hearing the little heartbeat of our baby made me so happy and excited. I'm looking forward to the next adventure - the sonogram - but mostly I'm just happy that we'll have our own baby soon.

Weekend Getaway to Williamsburg, VA!

This past Friday and Saturday (July 11-12) we decided to take a trip to Williamsburg, VA! We had a Great time! On Friday when we got there we decided to tour Colonial Williamsburg~It was a nice time, however wearing flip flops was not a good idea on my part! My feet were killing me by the time we got back to our hotel. But we were able to see lots of historic sites. The best part of our trip back through time was at the end when we saw a re-enactment called "Fifes and Drums". There were rifles with bayonets, and cannons that were fired off!! It was quite exciting!
Then on Saturday we met up with Ruth and Matt (Micah's sister and her husband) at Busch Gardens. And although it was a little hot, we had a really nice time. We spent some of the day together and then we broke off too. As they wanted to make sure to hit all of the coasters and Micah wanted to see some shows with me, since there was no roller coaster riding for his 14-week pregnant wife! We did get to see some 4D shows, and some of the wonderful talent that Busch Gardens has! And Micah even rode Apollo's Chariot for me ~ what a trooper he was, since he isn't a big fan of coasters in the first place! He even recorded his experience on our MP3 player for me to hear later, it was quite humorous! But I thought it was a very sweet and romantic gesture!

Here's Me out in Front of the Capitol building at Colonial Williamsburg, wearing my cute maternity top that one of my beautiful sisters gave me!
Williamsburg has 2 less villains to worry about now:)

4th of July Full of Family & Exciting News!

Our 4th of July 2008 was a wonderful one! Full of suprise, family, love, and patriotic celebrations of the birth of our nation, the great United States of America! We were able to have some celebrations with my parents last night and then we all headed over to McIntire Park to see the Wonderful Display of Fireworks! And they were AMAZING last night!
As we were getting ready to leave our house for a day of fun and celebrations with our Ward Members at a Pancake Breakfast and then off to my parents for a cookout and fireworks our phone rang. It was my youngest sister, Jessie. She just talked for a few minutes and then she said, "Guess What? Now we are going to be pregnant together! Tanner and I are having a Baby!" I was so excited at that moment I could barely breathe! Jessie has been wanting to be a mom for quite a while now, and this came as a total suprise for them, but as always Heavenly Father has perfect timing! She is about 3-4 weeks along right now. She goes to her first doctor appointment next week and will get a more firm due date, but right now she thinks her baby should arrive around the middle of March! Micah and I are so excited, not only do we get to be parents in 2009, but we get to add one more neice or nephew to our beautiful crew of 6 already! We are thrilled for Jessie and Tanner and are excited to share these exciting times together!
Here are a few pictures from our visit yesterday! Everyone wanted to get photos of the newest parents and grandparents-to-be in our family! Yay for Family and Yay for Growing Little Babies, and Much Gratitude to be citizens of the United States of America!
